I agree, pain in the something-or-other that you can't buy them direct through steam. Also, I have yet to see any of the DLC from that era (Mass Effect 1,2,3, Dragon Age 1,2) go on any kind of sale.- It's a shame because Lair of the Shadow Broker, Arrival and Overlord are excellent DLC's, imho. Recently got Mass Effect 2 and all the DLC's up and running for a friend on Steam. Followed this guide. Had zero problems with it at all --- same as many who have used. No 'risks' involved. So, sorry to be picky but the statement 'DLC purchased through Origin is not compatible with Steam.'

Is a little false. It will run in the steam version of Mass Effect 2 absolutely fine, with no problems nor risks. There is just no easy 'transfer here' button. Requirement of owning ME2 on Steam AND Origin.

Lair of the Shadow Broker fo sho. Quality, Liara focused mission/story. For Mass Effect 2 DLC: If you don't have a BSN/Origin account already create one here [social.bioware.com]. Then download and install DLC through Origin for the Steam version of the game.
